Paul McCartney featured in Grammy Awards special of past highlights

Paul McCartney will be among those featured in "GRAMMY's Greatest Stories: A 60th Anniversary Special," a two-hour show with clips showcasing highlights from 59 years of Grammy Award show history to be broadcast Nov. 24. at 9 p.m. on CBS, the Recording Academy, which oversees the annual Grammy Awards show broadcast, announced Oct. 10. The prime time special will air from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT on Friday, Nov. 24 on the CBS Television Network.
The long list of celebrities to be featured in the show includes Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Ed Sheeran, Bruce Springsteen, Mary J. Blige, U2, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Dave Grohl, Elton John, Bruno Mars, Chris Martin, Sting and Keith Urban.
Ken Ehrlich, who has been executive producer of the Grammy Award telecasts for 38 years, said about the show, "Never before have we gathered all of GRAMMY's greatest moments from more than a half-century of award shows for one primetime special, and when you see them put together in a parade of amazing clip montages interspersed with the stories behind the performances, it's really pretty unbelievable." Ehrlich is also executive producer for this new special, which is being produced by Ron Basile and written by David Wild.
Among the moments to be included will be the reaction to the loss of Whitney Houston less than 24 hours before the 2012 Grammy Awards were to take place and Aretha Franklin filling in for an ailing Luciano Pavarotti and singing Puccini's “Nessun Dorma” from his opera Turandot at the 40th Grammy Awards in 1998. Paul McCartney performed the medley from the Beatles' Abbey Road album at the 2012 Grammy Awards accompanied by Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh and Bruce Springsteen.
