Crippled Inside - John is not holding back here...

I'm new and couldn't find this reference in the threads so thought I'd post it.

This song was apparently written for Paul. But John would have never said the real Paul was crippled inside. He was extremely close to Paul,
and called him the heart of the Beatles. How can you go from being the heart of the band to being crippled inside in a span of a couple of years?
This song was written for Faul and John doesn't hold back.

How do you feel about the lyrics to "How Do You Sleep"?

To me these lyrics only make sense if they are addressed to the original Paul.
Sgt. Pepper would not have caught Faul by surprise, because he was intimately familiar with it.

Here is my take on the two verses based on my belief that Paul is dead and Lennon wrote this for Faul.

The albums Imagine and RAM are what I call the "battleground" albums. John and Faul have admitted that these two albums were the two
of them venting their resentment towards each other.

Getting to play the part of Paul after his death and then producing a hit album would have taken any musician by surprise.

Lennon telling Faul (Sgt. Pepper) to look into his own eyes and see he's not the real Paul

Lennon now twists the knife and talks to Faul as if he was the real Paul (because that's what the band had to make everyone believe).
Kind of like saying, "You want to be Paul? Well, okay you're dead too."

Lennon telling Faul he could get away with looking like Paul but he didn't have Paul's mind.

Straights being those who are mainstream (people who like musak  ).
Faul has such a big ego he only surrounds himself with people who think he's "all that" or the best Beatle.

Telling Faul he's "pussy whipped" by Linda.

Lennon telling Faul he's washed up, yesterday's news so to speak.

And since you're gone you're just another day
Lennon telling Faul that now that he's out of his life, he's easily forgotten like just another uneventful day.

The third verse in the song is pretty straightforward. Lennon is telling Faul he can get by on Paul's looks
for only so long. Notice he says "a" pretty face and not "your" pretty face.

A pretty face may last a year or two

But pretty soon they'll see what you can do

The sound you make is muzak to my ears

You must have learned something in all those years

Why is it "apparent" that's about Paul or Faul? It reads as though it's autobiographical to me - as if he's not the real John Lennon and living a lie.

I'm only speculating that this song is about Faul. 
Nobody really knows except the authors what or who these songs are about.

Just sharing my thoughts, that's all.
