Many of you believe that bands other than the Beatles, and their individual members, were writing songs and slipping clues into their album art/music videos to share their knowledge of the death of "Paul McCartney" with their audiences. With the exception of David Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold The World' (and, possibly, another Bowie song, 'The Jean Genie'), I do not believe other bands were commenting on the mystery of "Paul McCartney" being multiple people.
However, for those who have looked into the wealth of clues indicating that (one of the men known as) "Paul" was publicly replaced because he had been incarcerated, I think Bob Dylan's tune 'Percy's Song' might be of interest. Although performed and recorded by numerous other artists from the mid-60s on, Dylan didn't officially release a cut of himself performing the song until 1985. 'Percy's Song' was originally an outtake from Bob's October 1963 "The Times They Are A-Changin'" recording sessions.
September/October 1962 is when the Beatles underwent a massive image change, at the hand of Brian Epstein. It's, also, the last glimpse we got of "Tall Dumpy Paul With Folded Ears And Low, Short, Sharp Brows" until the last few years of 'Wings'. I have not been able to find any photographic evidence of this "Paul" appearing at all during 'Beatlemania' and he is the same one who made the callous comment to the reporter about Lennon's death.
Percy's Song as performed by Bob Dylan:
I prefer the version performed by Sandy Denny with Fairport Convention:
Those you who have ventured into the Celebrity Flux sub-forum here (or to the 'Doppelganger and Identity Research Society' forum), will of course note that there has been speculation that Sandy Denny, Bob Dylan and David Bowie were all, also, replaced. I don't agree with that thesis, but it is interesting how the same names come up again and again with PID/PWR.
