Howdy Everyone, Today, while I was listening to Abbey Road and thinking of Sgt. Pepper (for some reason...?), I had an interesting thought/idea... ”One and one and one is three.”
Maybe “I ONE I X” actually translates to “3 October”...? According to The Beatles Bible (link), 3 October 1966 was the date Brian Epstein denied Paul was leaving The Beatles. Perhaps this was actually the date that Paul quit the band and, when they started recording Sgt. Pepper in December, they were introducing Billy as his replacement.
Rumors have to come from somewhere, and “where there’s smoke there’s fire”...
I say “quit” rather than “died” because (to now introduce my controversial view on the drum skin...) I don’t believe the drum skin says “die”. I created the below two images by reflecting the skin at the middle in a photo editor. I was interested to see if both of the skin designs appeared to show a “B” and they, in fact, did.
Around the internet, I have seen many pictures of a CD or mirror used to reflect the image, but I think there is a lot of room for error and bias there... you’ll see a “D” if you are looking for it and, unbeknownst to you, the reflective surface may not completely straight across the center. Using a photo editor to slice the image in half made it impossible for a slope in the reflection.
So, what is “BIE”? Maybe a stylized and/or sassy version of “Bye”...? I don’t know... What do y’all think?

I forgot to mention my interest in/ideas about the punctuation differences in the drum skins. Definitions from Wikipedia: Colon ( : ) - “A colon often precedes an explanation, a list, a quotation, or a block quotation.” Semicolon ( ; ) - “A semicolon is most commonly used to link (in a single sentence) two independent clauses that are closely related in thought.” Some Ideas...
- The first drum skin with the ; could represent that there would be a group effort, that Paul would remain behind the scenes while Billy “played” Paul, that they were “linked” as Paul(s).
- The drum skin that was finally used with : could mean that they were strictly introducing Billy, that there wasn’t any kind of joint effort.
Just some ideas! ✌🏻👽

Just some ideas! ✌🏻👽 Or maybe it suggests that Paul and Billy are the same person...as I have recently theorized. Suggesting also that maybe Paul suffered some sort of mental breakdown due to fame and drugs that created a split personality disorder.
