Well, let's see..... For starters, the Paul in the video is wearing a red carnation, so presumably he is alive, rather than dead. AAAAAAAnd, everyone in the video is him, other than Linda. AAAAAAnd the individuals portrayed are recognizable as celebrities of the time. For instance, the drummer is Ginger Baker, and "Buddy Holly" and his 'girl friend' are also John and Yoko. So, this video is meant to be humorous. But is there a serious side to the video? Hope that helps.

I think Palmer may have unintentionally plagiarized the rhythm and melody of "Coming Up" in his song "Looking For Clues"
They were both released in 1980, but his came out later.

<---- the "bent back 'two lips' " probably not "unintentionally" plagiarized imo

Always thought this was a message song from Faul to John/Fohn not to retire, so to speak. You know, not to go out like Buddy Holly. Stick around, Faul will be a friend who won't "Fade away" like the original Paul. Maybe that's one reason John liked the song. Coming Up Like A Flower (In The Dirt) was John's impending "death" and Faul was urging him not to.
I used to think Fohn made an appearance in the video, one of the saxophonists, Faul points to them at the start. Not sure about that now.
Also used to think that "real Paul" made a brief appearance as himself as one of the mop tops.
