This is one of the "old" PID clues clues, you probably have heard of this one. John (or someone) seems to yelling "Paul is dead, Paul is really really dead" buried in the mix of voices and instruments. It doesn't seem to be there in the american stereo version, you had to have the european mono version to hear it. (so the story goes, but they are different in how loudly the voices rise above the instruments) I downloaded this mono version and cropped the relevant part: www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/reprise.wavThen I time stretched it. There's a weird echo, but that can't be helped. It may or may not help you make out the words. www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/repriseslow.wav

interesting, good work
there are others you could work on if you were so inclined:
yellow submarine "paul's a queer!" in the background
tomorrow never knows "paul played the game existence"
"Paul, Paul, Paul, etc." - Guitar/Weeps

Bump, cause this one always intrigued me.
What is appears to say: "Paul is really dead, Paul is dead, he's friggin dead!" Sounds like John. Now a little history, this was on the mono version of a Europe only release of Pepper. This clarity of the voice, as buried as it is, it completely absent in the US version. Compare and contrast if you wish. It's IMO a subliminal embed, you may not hear it consciously as anything more than noise or unintelligible shouting, and whoever placed it was hoping your subconscious would pick up on it. If I recall correctly, I read The Beatles had more control over recordings released in Europe than they did in the US.

I dunno, I can't hear any of this. And the yellow submarine clip sounds more like "Off to the steakhouse" to me more than it sounds like "Paul is queer".

Oh I know... it means EVERYBODY'S DEAD!! Yeah that might be true if only Ringo would turn around and smile for the camera.

Yeah that might be true if only Ringo would turn around and smile for the camera. The real Ringo, or the female Ringo?

Good job JoJo. I'd say that was pretty clear. You can hear it in the last 5 seconds or so.

Yet another reprise, yes.. This is a new method of sound separation, 2 rear, 2 front, and a center, you have to download all five sound files and play them together. I don't have the setup for that, but I thought it would be interesting to see if that yelling is a little more clear in one of the channels. I'd say yes.. www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/YAReprise.mp3

It sounds like jibberish at the end.
In the middle, I think I can hear "Paul is dead, Paul is really dead" but there's singing over it.

To me it honestly sounds like only the second "really really dead" sounds like "really really dead" and probably because I've heard that phrase so much that that's what it sounds like to me. The rest sounds like he's saying band, not dead, and saying thank you for coming, and stuff.
Cheers, Umang
EDIT: Good job isolating the vocals, tho!!!!

Here is what the newer, clearer clip sounds like to me...
"How many down here? He's really dead. Call the number, the man, in the van. Take it up boss, in the van, sir."

It's "Sgt. Pepper's really lonely band". Listen for the end of "dead". Notice there's an extra syllable there. I hate to say it, because this is one of my favorite clues, but if you listen to the mono version of this song you can hear "band" instead of "dead" and a slurred "Pepper" instead of "Paul is dead". However, John does say "Oh my God, we've killed him" in the left channel right after the "dead" part.

Though, I must add that I was listening to US mono release....maybe the European one sounds different? I can post the clip if no one's heard it yet...
