thank you very much ;D ... I must say, i cheated slightly with the sequencing; I remember someone mentioned something earlier in the thread about a sgt pepper midi file - well I have various midi files of entire beatle albums, so I just cut the relevant bits from there. however, the midi artist in question used a little bit of creative license so I had to refine it somewhat before putting it through audition to add reverb, eq etc. still - it turned out a hell of a lot nicer than I'd expected it to... hopefully the same should apply for ADITL, as thats almost certainly the most ambitious track on the album in terms of orchestral sequencing. if the sequencing on the other tracks sounds anywhere near as good as on this one I'll be well impressed sounds very good , but if you didn't told me it was a MIDI file.. i would have known. because MIDI just sounds different. I played the two next to each other and it sounds very cool one thing TD, isn't it better to move on to WALHFMF? so we can add them together.. going on to ADITL I'll add the rythm guitar to your mix tomorrow, gonna do it from scratch and a new distortion and cleaner if you work on the bass Mikee we haven't finished sgt yet

ok - quick update... We went off up north to visit family after boxing day and we just got back last night, so I haven't been able to do much since last we spoke - except get a bit further along on that drum-track. I'm also thinking we should have a 4-beat count in on each track, so as they line up perfectly on your collective multitracks (also its a good way to allow your software to determine the tempo). Its my birthday today, so I don't sense much happening with this tonight... tomorrow is Sunday and that usually bodes well with me, as far as most other distractions will be too hung over to bother me lol. I'm going to finish that drum track, re-do my pepper guitars, attempt a vocal and sequence the brass finally. Im also thinking of trying to make a start on A Day in the Life - so... I'll let you know how that turns out.. what bits I need some of my PID papes [peeps] on etc. Paul, are you still good to do the middle section, vocal-wise? MG I totally agree. Unless of course you want to be on the cover you don't necessarily have to be there in-person. Stand-ins and strange alter-egos is the name of the game with this album really I doubt we could make something as good as the original, but we can bloody try! hehe... lol today i did all rythm guitar, so if you can do those little solo's everywhere that would be really great, because for some reason my big muff doesn't give the right sound to it. brass would be really great if you can do that and about that middle section: This section is BillPaul: It was twenty years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play They've been going in and out of style But they're guaranteed to raise a smile. So may I introduce to you The act you've known for all these years, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. This section is all beatles(or maybe multitracking of john and paul i don't know): We're Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, We hope you will enjoy the show, We're Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Sit back and let the evening go. Sgt. Pepper's lonely, Sgt. Pepper's lonely, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It's wonderful to be here, It's certainly a thrill. You're such a lovely audience, We'd like to take you home with us, We'd love to take you home. This is again solo by paulbill: I don't really want to stop the show, But I thought that you might like to know, That the singer's going to sing a song, And he wants you all to sing along. So let me introduce to you The one and only Billy Shears And Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. What i suggest is that someone who can do that special voice on the paul parts(you know what i mean... i hope) is that person is gonna do it. I can do it, but it is very hard to keep thoughtout the whole song. and the middle section we all do together

It was Christmas day though Mike! MG I'm sure your visage would be fine for us to bear! I'm personally not all that attracted to squirrels anyway! Good point though, without being rude Mike, I don't really wanna send out pictures of myself for the cover quite yet! that ain't being rude PP ;D no problem.. everything on it's time

Just use avatar photos, if I wanted you all to know what I looked liked my avatar would be a photo of me, But I am afraid that my real visage would be too sexy for this board (sarcasim) or maybe I am a cyber savy squirrel. Whatever you do The Deceptionist should be Edgar Allen Poe. a-ha.. it works. I'm a-listening right now Paul: I really like your vocals. Mike is right, it is a little quiet - but like you say, you record with a rustic sound. I think however that you should record your vocals and guitar separately, if only for the sake of the multi-tracking. Mike: Thats a nice collection to get us started there. I think I could add to that quite nicely. You definitely have the right idea with the whole multi-tracking thing. and thank you jojo for jojosplace by the way ;D My mission this afternoon then is to try and add some fills to your drum-track, sequence the horns etc and overdub a guitar/guitars.. you sure are sexy in that photo... ;D

it seems that... when i try to multitrack my bass with your layers, that you have done it in a slightly different key it does seem that way.. initially I had layered your drums, bass and isolated pepper vocals - but then once i got onto the guitar I was like "ey up - there's summat wrong here." so I didn't use it, as I was in a rush to get out to the pub last night and I didn't want to be trying to work it out in the small wee hours - but if i fine-comb it with a pitch-shifter later then it may be ok. i think maybe a composite of the two (after they're normalised - if thats the right word) would be pretty good... i still think a REAL bass would sound so much better ...anyway - I have yet to open my presents, so I'm out. I'll post some more stuff later re: this album Merry Christmas or whatever you people may or may not be celebrating today tfDimerry christmas to you too! hehe.. i've got myself a new electric shaver ;D

personally I just stick with .wav kit samples and then insert them into my multitrack. then once they've been bounced down into one track I add the rest. i need to add: i think it's better if we first stick with mp3, and when we are done with everything we put it in .WAV this is of course for the savings of jojo's space... ;D

This is basically Mike's drums with a few fills added (only until as far as the end of the first brass section). On top of that I recorded both guitar parts and a (dodgy) bassline for the first section. Then theres one guitar part recorded over the chorus with the dodgy bass. I also mixed the atmospheric noise in at the beginning (taken from 'lost pepperland reel'). I had been working to the SgtPepperVocals track from jojosplace but I figured Paul (or whoever wants to do it) can overdub some vocals or something if i leave it blank. By tomorrow evening (GMT) I should have a cleaner, fuller version up (also including the brass section - i hope). I think perhaps some of the eq'ing could be improved too, so I'll do that... um - anyone who can play bass too - your help would be much appreciated... my faux-bass sounds fairly... well - crap to be blunt. it seems that... when i try to multitrack my bass with your layers, that you have done it in a slightly different key

www.badongo.com/file/7024708
Its a little rough around the edges, but its only a preliminary example. Once I've cut a better version thats in-time and not rushed I'll upload all the constituent instrument parts and mixes to jojo's place and you can all have fun adding, subtracting, flanging... whatever you want to do ;Dsounds very good... very good ;D

ok... I'm now armed with about 360MB of drum kit samples, seeing as i lost my old set I thought I should probably get some more. Im going to lock myself in my room with my pc, some doobs, my guitar etc... and I'm not coming out til I have something to show for it. See you all later I have a program called Submersible Drumcore with over 8 gigs of samples, but it's hard to use hope you are done soon!!! ;D

well , you didn't say it was on there.. so i didn't had a reason to look in the upload folder but, 3 things: 1. i liked sgt. pepper a lot.. lucy is a little bit less 2. if you can keep it to the timings of sgt pepper, and do multitrack 3. can you sing closer to the mic? i noticed you bumped up the volume to make it louder, but this brings unwanted sound to it but still i enjoyed listening to it, and added it to my iTunes lib. just like i did with sgt pepper good job! True Mike, seriously though you prefer my pepper to lucy? IMO lucy is better, you do a good version yourself, however my recordings are both just rustic, crappy throwaway recordings, and I never boosted the volume for the record!!! I've got a decent mic, it's just the program I use I think... Thanks though anyway didn't boosted your vol? than the only thing i can think of is that your computer auto-boosts the sound or something weird like that...

Hey, i've been working hard to create a solid drumtrack with matching vocals, since Sgt. Pepper doesn't has a solid base, the drumspeed varies. 23/12:Bass:www.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandBass.mp3Bass with Vocalswww.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandBasswVocal.mp3Drumswww.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandDrum.mp3Drums with Vocalswww.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandDrumwVocal.mp3Drums, Vocals and Basswww.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandDrumwVocalandBass.mp3Vocalswww.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandVocal.mp325/12:this layer contains the middle section solo trumpet i did.. and the solo in the beginning. the solo is not synced and not so nice.. www.jojoplace.org/uploads/SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBandTrumpetandintroSolo.mp329/12:This contains the latest adjustments i made today, added rythm guitar, horns and applause www.jojoplace.org/uploads/sgtpepper2_Master.mp3You can load it up in software like audition or soundbooth and multitrack it, add your own instrument to it or replace the drumtrack with a real one, if you have a good set of vocal chords, please add them, and if you have a real bass please add it! let's make this a very special Sgt. Pepper with a solid base we can all work on Mike

Mike took over my avatar and took over my album project can you take over my bills too? Seriously Mike what we need to do is a small demo of part of Sgt Pepper and layer in our voices as a demo to see if it is even possible, so I don't care if you play along with your vocal track we just need to start one step at a time before we cross this mountain. So if we are all clear on this 1st step let us carry on, Where are your samples Mike? Or did I misunderstand your post? took over your avatar? and i didn't take your album project over and no... i cannot take over your bills my samples? i just fooled around with the demo and added some layers to it (bass, solo parts, and background vocal) if you want i can do some other things
