Slightly off-topic, but in response to B’s post about Jack Jones’ “A Day In the Life of a Fool” obligatory mention Jack Jones - A day in the life of a fool www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvLIlqKJ0eINot a song about PID, but a possible inspiration for the title of the song on the Sgt Pepper album. I thought I recognized that melody. This is the American version of the Bossa Nova song “Manha de Carnaval” from the 1959 film Black Orpheus. "A Day In the Life of a Fool", lyrics by Carl Sigman. Carl Sigman also wrote the lyrics to “Answer Me, My Love” which shares similarities to the Beatles’ "Yesterday" both musically and thematically. The music to "Answer Me, My Love" is from the German song "Mutterlein". Sigman also wrote the song “Just Yesterday” in 1965, which contains the line, “…only yesterday, now it all seems so far away”. Jack Jones’ recording of “Just Yesterday” reached #4 in the US charts that year. Mutterlien sounds even more like Yesterday than Answer Me, My Love did. Probably the pacing/tempo of the song. Cole tended to drag stuff out, cuz he had the voice  When I first heard Answer Me, My Love, I just found it unmistakeably similar to "Yesterday" -- it's the way the words fall, and what syllable they hit on, and the melody. I know CREAM's "BADGE" was previously discussed on this thread. It was co-written by George Harrison along with Eric Clapton. The song is found on Cream's last studio LP GOODBYE. It is a gatefold sleeve and when you open it up it has this interesting artwork with gravestones (seven of them). There is a fellow on the far right blowing a burial tune on his trumpet and he looks kind of SGT. Pepper-Ish. I am just posting it here and perhaps somebody can find a clue or something on it. I believe there could be something to it.  |

People are entitled to their opinion, and we try to allow for that here, but there is no need for us to be repeatedly beaten over the head with assertions that clearly are not true. No doubt there are some people who have been replaced. No doubt the godhead has some feminine aspects. Neither of those topics is germane to the topic of this thread, unless the poster has found a song pertaining to those issues. If hotman wants to show us that every rock star you've ever heard of has been replaced, he can post threads demonstrating that, in the appropriate areas, but he is not welcome to insert these unfounded allegations into every single topic that comes up for discussion. E = MC2 by Big Audio Dynamite was written by Mick Jones and Don Letts (has dreadlocks in the video). Letts was the filmographer of The Clash, who famously sang "phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust" in London Calling. He said the song is a homage to Nicholas Roeg movies, so I looked him up.
