I may be able to add something to your album, because I can play guitar a little bit and I think I can carry a tune well enough to sing. Plus I have this song, "Sgt. Pepper's Tea & Sympathy"-- which I don't know what I'm going to do with, but its floating around my room somewhere... On the guest board I posted as "Buddy Holly" and wrote a little song on the fly. Since then I've replaced just a couple words in the lyrics and the revised notes. I changed it so now it has more of a Buddy Hollyesc tune. invanddis.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=guests1&action=display&thread=1131848706&page=3

Well seriously logisticly it would have to be done online and co-ordinated via some universal audio file that the volunteer editer of this project would gather up and piece it all together. If this was a Wings album perhaps such a less ambitious undertaking could be accomplished.
I suggest someone give a wack at it and post an audio for us to listen to of any part of any song and see if it can be done with one song 1st.
For example anybody truly interested should record the 1st few lines of Sgt Pepper since that is a song that all involved can sing to. (just the vocals) and let us see if they can all be strung together by our volunteer editor (The Deceptionist). Doc has to promise not to critique our vocals since this is just 4 fun. If this can be accomplished then we can work on the instrumentation. Finishing one song would be a feat.
We're sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band We hope you have enjoyed the show Sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band We're sorry but it's time to go. Sergeant pepper's lonely. Sergeant pepper's lonely. Sergeant pepper's lonely. Sergeant pepper's lonely. Sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band

I'm only on lunch break at the mo, but I'll definitely give them a listen later on MG, nice idea for a 'test run' per se "For example anybody truly interested should record the 1st few lines of Sgt Pepper since that is a song that all involved can sing to. spafe i'll be recording my sgt pepper test vocals tonight.. unless anyone else wants to volunteer to edit and mix them i guess i'll be doing that. thx mg lol (i love this stuff so i don't mind really) for anyone recording vocals: could you please record them in .wav format? (i know mp3s are nice and all and everyone is used to them, but the compression often leaves it lacking) if you need any help in doing this (or anything related), feel free to p.m. me and i'll do my best to help rock on you crazy peoples \/,,

I do a little "tricking about" in CubaseVST, and have found one or two decent SPLHCB midi files that might help your efforts. The raw midi files themselves aren't brilliant, but it's possible to re-assign them to modules internally and externally and re-mix. Some of the instrumentation ain't great but they could help. I'll post an example of a mid and wav. Getting a proper guitar sound is a problem though. Buts thats easily solved by dumping the guitar track and laying a real on. I'm not a recording genius so the mix is prolly gonna be laughed at. Ne'er mind.

Or is this a guy only thing? this is for anyone who wants to have a go ;D thisone: midi's not so bad if it has effects added to it - although i dont know if it can ever lose it's magical 80's vibe. slight reverb seems to make it sound a lot more realistic

okay - I've written out a list that details all of the instrumentation used on the LP (to the best of my knowledge - feel free to amend it if its incorrect). I've also put names next to parts people have already called shotgun on, and I've also put a list of names of people who have shown an interest in being involved.
Interested persons (?)... Plastic Paul, The Deceptionist, Mindgames, Lovely Rita, Jai Guru Deva, Mellow Yellow, Eyesbleed, thisone, Mike, Miss Vaggie, Doc(?)
01. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band * Lead Vocals * Backing Vocals - All * Lead Guitar - The Deceptionist * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - Horns, Brass Section etc* * Drums* * SFX - crowd etc
02. With a Little Help From My Friends * Lead Vocals - Lovely Rita * Backing Vocals * Lead Guitar * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Piano * Drums*
03. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds * Lead Vocals - Plastic Paul * Backing Vocals * Lead Guitar * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - organ, clavier, sitar* - The Deceptionist * Drums*
04. Getting Better * Lead Vocals * Backing Vocals * Lead Guitar * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - sitar, piano* * Drums*
05. Fixing a Hole * Lead Vocals * Backing Vocals * Lead Guitar * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - clavier* - The Deceptionist * Drums*
06. She's Leaving Home * Lead Vocals - Plastic Paul * Backing Vocals - The Deceptionist * Keyboard - Harp, String Section*
07. Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite! * Lead Vocals - The Deceptionist * Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - melange of fairground insruments/noises - accordion, organ etc* * Drums*
08. Within You, Without You * Lead Vocals - Plastic Paul * Indian backing instrumentation* - cheeky I know, but I was considering using the vocal-less anthology version. Anyone particularly against?
09. When I'm Sixty-four * Lead Vocals - Plastic Paul * Backing Vocals * Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - Oboe, Piano, Bell* * Drums*
10. Lovely Rita * Lead Vocals * Backing Vocals * Guitar * Bass * Piano * Kazoo - Lovely Rita * Drums*
11. Good Morning, Good Morning * Lead Vocals - Plastic Paul * Backing Vocals * Lead Guitar - The Deceptionist * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - Brass Section* * Drums* * SFX - animal noises etc
12. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) * Lead Vocals * Backing Vocals - All * Lead Guitar * Rhythm Guitar * Bass * Keyboard - Organ* * Drums* * SFX - crowd
13. A Day in the Life * Vocals - Plastic Paul, The Deceptionist * Guitar * Bass * Piano * Orchestral Instrumentation* * Drums*
*Obviously it'd be great to have actual instrumentation for these parts (as opposed to synthesized parts) - so if you play any of these instruments your input would be greatly appreciated, if not - they can easily be sequenced/keyboard synthesized.

Well... I'm holding back a bit so as other people can have a chance lol. If I'd marked everything I wanted to do there'd be nothing left for anyone else But I will start taking parts soon if people don't step up, so if you want to do a bit and you know specifically which bit - then post saying you want it and I'll update the list I did last night as and when - but if you don't come soon then all the parts will be gobbled up by greedy buggers like myself. Also, thought I'd alter the 'involved list' to include what we can bring to the melting pot so to speak. This is all based on the contents of this thread and my limited prior knowledge, so its mainly presumptions; reprint the below list with your amendments if necessary: The Deceptionist - Guitars, Keyboard/Sequencing, Vocals (lol!), percussion. Apparent volunteer editor (if anyone else wants to split the job just say). Plastic Paul - Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Jai Guru Deva - Guitar, Vocals thisone - Cubase/Sequencing mindgames - Vocals eyesbleed - Vocals, Guitar Mike - Guitar, Vocals Rita - Vocals, Kazoo Mellow Yellow - Bass, Piano, Guitar(?) Miss Vaggie - Vocals As far as I can tell we have enough guitarists for each to have a couple songs in some capacity... only one bassist - although bass-lines can be synthesized by lowering the tone of a regular guitar by an octave in post-production (doesn't sound nearly as good as a real bass, mind)... At least two sequencers... A handful of vocalists/backing vocalists... A few pianists/keyboarders... Some possible percussionists... WE COULD STILL REALLY DO WITH A DRUMMER IF THERE ARE ANY OF YOU OUT THERE!!!

:-/Maybe we can get Purdie to join NIR and be our drummer, Did you do your sample yet? I want to hear it then I'll try my hand Oh if we can't get Purdie maybe somebody has a session drummer on thier computer. I still think this is IMOPOSSIBLE!!!!!! Tell me how oh wise one, I could do with one! I said that I could buy an alcoholic drink. I reminded the local law - it is forbidden to buy alcoholic drinks after 22:00. However, that works in stores only, so I bought one at the bar. Everyone was so drunk that they forgot about it ;D

Your turning a drunken dream into reality? Well - I was hoping there would be at least one drummer here, but still - it can be done on a computer, it'll just take a tad longer. Impossible? Hell, I reckon this whole thing can be done no problem!! It'll take a bit of time and obviously it won't be as good as the original, but it'll be interesting to see how it turns out nonetheless. Maybe doing the white album would be a bit harder - but consider that there are about 10 of us, compared to 4 Beatles and a handful of engineers etc... and most of these songs have either become classic standards that people know like the back of their hands or they can be learned fairly easily. Also bear in mind how much easier the process of recording music is now in comparison to how it was in 1967. In short, I pooh-pooh your negativity and assert my confidence in this project.. indubitably! lol
