Heh, I once tried to get the limited edition Derek Taylor book via ILL.. By limited I mean only 1000 copies. They all but said "Are you nuts??" ;D It's in the Boston Public Library, I might have a shot at talking my way into having a look if I went there in person.. been too lazy and there probably isn't anything too amazing in there.

Hi Paulumbo,
Naming this post "The Story" was (by accident) a good way of saying it is what it is.. A story.. basically a friend of a friend thing. No one is expected to just set aside their reasonable doubt, but it is an interesting story, and one that is better to tell than to just sit on. The NIR member who was the FOTF has since drifted away from here, sadly.
The bandaged face photos were (allegedly) released already, in the sense that they were published sometime in the late '66 - early '67 timeframe in a popular weekly magazine in Britain.. Efforts were made a couple of times to find the correct back issue, but without success. In one case, the person found one issue with pages ripped out, and it would have been a likely date for this.. Well anyway, I won't name the magazine here just in case there's a chance it can still be unearthed, but I'll respond to a PM if anyone's interested.

Maybe you folks in the midwest are used to this, but this is pretty freaky for us.. Especially when you have two separate events in the space of less than a week. The first was just that there were conditions ripe for formation of a tornado, although I misunderstood the emergency broadcast that came over the TV, I interpreted that a tornado was minutes away. (holy sh*t!) However, on Thursday, we got the real deal, although it followed a mostly northward path and to the west of where I am. The news reports point out that NH gets a tornado more years than not, but it's pretty much unheard of to get this kind of damage and this long a path.. Pretty determined, without those wide plains to build up the energy like elsewhere. tinyurl.com/6dd5enConcord – The tornado that ripped through New Hampshire on Thursday tore a 40-mile swath through 11 communities, causing a staggering amount of damage, but somehow, a low number of casualties.
"The state of New Hampshire dodged a bullet on this one," said National Weather Service Meteorologist John Jensenius, who surveyed the damage. "Some of the areas are just flattened in terms of trees. If there had been houses there, they would have been crushed."
At least a half-dozen houses were crushed from Deerfield to Effingham, and one was obliterated in Deerfield, where Brenda Stevens, 57, was killed. At least 200 other homes were damaged and about a dozen people hurt.
"Certainly, there was a potential for more loss of life," Jensenius said.
After surveying the damage Friday and Saturday, Jensenius confirmed it was caused by a twister that moved 40-50 mph through woods and over lakes and homes.
"There are areas near Ossipee where a third-of-a-mile-wide path is completely flattened with large trees," Jensenius said.
Tornado damage was confirmed by Friday evening in nine communities, and after surveying Pittsfield and Northwood, Jensenius added them to the list on Saturday.
Jensenius says the twister moved from Deerfield to Northwood, Epsom, Pittsfield, Barnstead and Alton. It then moved through New Durham, Wolfeboro, Freedom, Ossipee and Effingham.
In several towns, it was a category 2 tornado with winds of 111 to 135 mph.
"At this point, we think there was just one tornado," that lifted off the ground at places, causing breaks in the damage.
Where it hit, the winds blew down or snapped huge trees and smashed houses in one spot, and left property next door unscathed.
Jensenius said the original estimate of about a 20-mile-long path came from a flyover that apparently did not include the entire path.
The storm took less than an hour to move from Deerfield to Effingham, he said.
Several factors helped contribute to the low number of deaths and injuries. Much of the storm path was over woods, many people were not home when the storm hit their property, others who sensed it coming scrambled to safer places and some heeded the Weather Service's tornado warnings after hearing them on radio or TV.
"The good news side of it is a number of people who did hear the warning ... did take protective action," Jensenius said. "We do know the word got out."

Jo, why is this posted under Walrus ? What do you think is the significance of that "X" ? I have no idea, just seems odd that George is (seemingly) making an effort to point to it. "X marks the spot" is popularly placed on pirate treasure maps in movies and literature, one thing to consider. I put it here because I remembered this thread had a bunch of stills from MMT.

Only because Brian Ray released this cover a couple of months after the release of Chaos And Creation in the Back Yard, around the end of the tour. (Brian Ray is part of Sir Paul's band) Tears of a Clown: Now if there's a smile on my face It's only there trying to fool the public But when it comes down to fooling you Now honey that's quite a different subject
But don't let my glad expression Give you the wrong impression Cos really I'm sad, Oh I'm sadder than sad Well I'm hurt and I want you so bad Like a clown I appear to be glad ooh yeah
CHORUS:
Well they're some sad things known to man But ain't too much sadder than The tears of a clown when there's noone around Oh yeah, baby baby, oh yeah baby baby
Now if I appear to be carefree It's only to camouflage my sadness And honey to shield my pride I try To cover this hurt with a show of gladness But don't let my show convince you That I've been happy since you Cos I need to go, oh I need you so Look I'm hurt and I want you to know For others I put on a show ...CHORUS
Just like Pagliacci did I try to keep my surface hid Smiling in the crowd I try But in a lonely room I cry The tears of a clown When there's noone around, oh yeah, baby baby Now if there's a smile on my face Don't let my glad expression Give you the wrong impression Don't let this smile I wear Make you think that I don't care Cos really I'm sad...

www.antimusic.com/news/08/july/24Magical_Mystery_Tour_Memories.shtml(Note the typo mentioning a "Keith McCartney") (MVD) The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour Memories is an upbeat rockumentary featuring the vivid memories of those who witnessed the making of the cult Beatle movie, The Magical Mystery Tour, in 1967.
The DVD hits stores on September 2nd and features a celebrity cast along with anecdotal stories and unseen 8mm home movie footage, as well as eye-witness accounts from fans, on-lookers and the cast of the movie. Featuring Dame Peggy Spencer (choreographer), Neil Innis (Bonzo Dog Do Da Band), Tony Barrow (Beatles press officer and close friend of Sir Paul McCartney), Keith McCartney (Paul McCartney's brother), Frieda Kelly (principle secretary to the Beatles Fan Club), Spencer Davis (Spencer Davis Group), Tony Bramwell (Beatles road manager), and Victor Spinetti (actor and close friend of John Lennon) sharing their memories with Victor supplying a fascinating commentary to the film.
"This is a happy, upbeat film" comments David Lambert, producer and director of Arthouse Pictures, who produced the movie. "Probably the last time the fab four were all still getting along."
Keith Badman (author and Beatles expert) said "I have seen the rough cut screener and can't wait to see the finished program. It is fantastic." This film is a must have for all Beatles fans worldwide and an opportunity to look back fondly at the heady days of the swinging 60s.
Bonus Materials: * Beatles related stories from Mike McCartney, Frieda Kelly, Spencer Davis, Victor Spinetti, Tony Bramwell and Miranda Ward.

Well the story I heard or read, can't remember, is that when Lennon sang the "Yesterday" line, he wanted to add: "And I bet you pinched (stole) that bitch anyway". Ringo allegedly talked him out of it.. If this is true, then his anger seems to be directed at JPM, not any replacement Paul. Also, you may recall the story that Sir Paul tells over and over about how Yesterday came to him in a dream.. I don't know how far back that story goes, meaning did it start in 1965?

The busts of John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison were used on the cover and are those seen on the left wearing dark suits.
The waxwork head of Sir Paul McCartney was not used but is similar to the one used in the photo shoot.
Now who has the Paul head??

JoJo, If you would be so kind as to give a gentle nudge on the reins if its perceived that I'm taking too much space in the collective NIR mind and I'd be glad to throttle back just a bit. I do contribute to legitimate PID/PWR discussions once in a while. Things are just a little slow right now but I'm sure it will pick up. Thank you for your vote of confidence. I'll cut right to the chase, you're becoming a problem again. Helpful hint: The GLP forum thrives on posters who crave the attention they aren't getting in their everyday life. Stevie went there and shared his unique POV. (until he was banned, go figure)

Not a dark background but.. www.godlikeproductions.comThat's not to say that there isn't validity to colors having an influence, for example blue represents power, hence the "men in blue". I took part in an experiment once in a class once a long time ago, the idea was to lift something heavy while looking at blue and then looking at red. When looking at red, most felt lifting the object was more difficult, interesting stuff. PS: Having argumentative people around encourages arguments.

P(D)enny, You got me interested in that 1968 movie 'Candy', to the point I've been trying to buy it.. no luck on Ebay and Amazon is down at the moment for me. Anyone ever see it on DVD or VHS, or only at a theater? May not have ever made the transfer.. unusual for the vintage, and it also has a couple of big stars.. suppose it happens.

I have "Many Years From Now", the "official Paul McCartney biography". Not a bad book, I learned a few things I didn't know before.. True, some things in there may be of dubious validity, but you can tie it in with other information. Interesting that both books came out in 1998, which may mean he was working on them at the same time, or the Beatles book was an extension of information he didn't use in the Macca book.

Yeah who are those guests at TKIN, I've never seen a forum with so little member activity with so many lurkers.. The ratio is way off, a mystery I guess.
About the RA forum, it takes time to develop a following, declaring it down for the count at this early date is a bit premature. The only concern is the narrow focus, a risky proposition. For example, Taf is wise to expand beyond discussing IAAP, (while still being right on the scene with breaking news on IAAP material) makes the blog something I want to follow.
